End to End Principle (e2e):  a design principle within the internet that allows for intelligent decisions to be made from the narrowly presented or simple core of a network.

From CODE (Lessig):  “The end-to-end principle is a design philosophy about how networks shuld be built.  It counsels that a networkd should be kept as simple as possible and that the intelligence required in a network be rested in the edge, or ends of a network, at least so far as that’s possible.”
